We aim to give IHSS recipients a voice in how services are provided, to improve the availability and quality of IHSS, and to support services that enhance the lives of seniors and persons with disabilities who choose to live independently and with dignity in their own homes and community.
IHSS is a state program administered by Alameda County. IHSS provides homecare assistance to eligible aged, blind or disabled individuals.
As California undergoes more frequent and severe heat waves, Governor Gavin Newsom recently announced the ready.ca.gov, a new, one-stop shop for Californians to prepare for emergencies and extreme weather. The new website is part of Listos California, which is a state effort that connects communities with resources before, during and after emergencies. In addition, the Department of Public Health has created a Heat & Summer Safety toolkit to provide resources and communication tools that can be shared.
Electricity Demand
If the demand for electricity exceeds the state’s supply, the state’s grid operator, California Independent System Operator (CA ISO), may require power to be turned off in portions of the state. Click here to sign up for Flex Alerts and other CA ISO communications, including the ‘ISO Today’ mobile app.
Resources available from the National Weather Service
